The Newest Face of the REAP Team: Meet Lara
Hey, there! My name is Lara and I am beyond thrilled to introduce myself as the REAP Team’s newest Retreat Leader!
I’m a big fan of laughing, Mary (Momma Mary, that is), green tea (preferably iced, always unsweet), and Chick-fil-A (I love it so much I gave it up for Lent one year). In my free time you can find me playing my cello, running with my sweet doggo, Grantley, or managing his Instagram account, @hello.grantley. I believe that St. Catherine of Siena got it right when she said “Be who you were made to be and you will set the world on fire.” The world needs more people who can be brave and bold and step out in faith…and that’s what I’m striving to do!
Before joining the REAP Team I was an elementary school teacher for 6 years and absolutely loved it! After several wonderful years as a teacher, a slow desire to serve Him elsewhere began to grow. He was still calling me to teach, but in a much different capacity. I wasn’t sure what this would look like, but the calling got louder and louder until…enter REAP Team. Before joining the REAP Team, I spent my weekends serving on Core for my parish’s youth ministry program. It is there that I fell in love with ministering to young people & it is because of those experiences that I knew the REAP Team was the answer the Lord was guiding me to!
This year has already been filled with so many wonderful retreat experiences. Every time I serve on a retreat feels like an answered prayer. This ministry is something that the Lord has been preparing my heart for for quite some time and I have loved every minute of being a part of this team! One of my most inspirational moments happened recently when we had the opportunity to have the Blessed Sacrament with us on retreat. As I knelt before our Lord, I had an overwhelming sense of understanding that He is in control. He takes care of it all. In that moment I prayed, “Lord, these are your children. Take care of them.” And that is exactly what He does! Every time we serve on retreat, we hand the day over to Him and let Him take care of His children. There is such freedom and goodness that flows from trusting in that!
Come find me on retreat and say ‘hi’! In the meantime, get to know me a little better through some rapid fire favorites!
