The REAL Jesus – Online

We on the REAP Team want to put out a challenge to you this Lent, and it is a challenge that we are going to take. It is a simple way that we can put Jesus first in our lives by spending some extra time with Him every time we go online.
We want to invite you to change your homepage this Lent – Paul and Gretchen have already done so – so that before we surf the web, get on Facebook, read the news, or check our email, we can visit Jesus in this awesome virtual adoration chapel – www.savior.org
So change your home page and let us know by joining our Facebook Group

(this effort is in no way intended to be a substitute for visiting a real adoration chapel and receiving the Eucharist at Mass, of course, but it is a cool way to be reminded to pray before we spend time online!)

Join the RED ENVELOPE Initiative

In response to the looming FOCA bill a pro-life advocate came up with the idea of sending red envelopes on March 31st, 2009 to President Obama.

Here's what you do…
Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores. On the front, address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, D.C. 20500-0001

On the back, write the following message:

This envelope represents one child who died in abortion.
It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world.
Responsibility begins with conception.

Put it in the mail (on March 31st), send it and keep praying.

For the ladies…

The office of vocations is planning a Contemplative Nun Run on Saturday, March 14th.  A Contemplative Nun Run is a day experience for young women 16-25 who would like to learn more about cloistered religious life and how it is expressed in different congregations.  The Office of Vocations is sponsoring a Contemplative Nun Run to the following cloistered communities: Poor Clare Nuns, Passionist Nuns, Camelite Nuns and the Pink Sisters on Saturday March 14, 2009.  The day will begin with at 8 am with a light breakfast and end around 3pm the Divine Mercy Chaplet.  Bring a sack lunch, drinks will be provided.  Reservations are required and parent volunteers are needed to drive. Please RSVP before Wednesday March 11, 2009 to Renae Novak at 314.792.6465 or Rnovak@archstl.org.

Funny stuff…A REAP Team member recently emailed Paul “This was a math problem in my freshman carpool's algebra book: 2/4 times the sum of earth's circumference and the circumference of Uranus is the circumference of Jupiter. If Jupiter's circumference is 2.4 x 10^4 and Earth's circumference is 1.6 x 10^2; find Uranus' circumference. hee hee

We all know that masks can be a problem, check out what the Vatican has to say about taking off masks in this season of Lent.

LATEST RESEARCH: Religious Beliefs

There is a deep need for us to love our kids by helping them understand who God truly is along with who He calls each of us as His followers to be. The need is especially great in today’s world as a variety of competing faith systems and ideas are influencing more and more people, including our kids. A new nationwide survey by the Barna Group shows that half of all American adults say that Christianity is just one of many viable faith options from which to choose. In addition, seventy-one percent of all Americans say that they are personally more likely to develop their own set of religious beliefs rather than accept a comprehensive set of beliefs taught by a particular church.  Sadly, sixty-one percent of those saying they are born-again adults take this ala carte approach.  Parents, followers of Jesus Christ are to embrace a faith that’s been clearly established and defined by the God who has embraced them.  What are you doing to help your kids know, understand, and follow the One true God?
